Swiatek reigns supreme in Paris

Iga Swiatek grabbed a well deserved third Roland-Garros crown on Philippe Chatrier, going back-to-back in the French capital. The Pole heightens her dominance on clay, making a claim for an era of Swiatek domination in Paris. A four time grand slam champion at 22 is a represenation of excellence.

With Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka a new "Big Three" was stirring, yet Swiatek has staked her claim to be alone at the pinnacle of women's tennis at the moment. Against Karolina Muchova, Swiatek began spectacularly but passed the toughest test on Philippe Chatrier and left with her World No.1 ranking intact. Defeating an ever-impressive Beatriz Haddad Maia, Coco Gauff and Lesia Tsurenko on the road to the Championship, the Pole has been flawless, showcasing another level of technical skill.

Karolina Muchova made a statement in Paris, saving match point against second seed Aryna Sabalenka in the semi finals, marching to her first Grand Slam final. A slow start, Muchova surged back against Swiatek and put her name forward as a genuine contender.

Beatriz Haddad Maia os perhaps the next superstar in women's tennis, outlasting Sara Sorribes Tormo in an epic before defeating seventh seed Ons Jabeur to charge towards a well deserved semi final. An extraordinary tournament for the Brazillian, a next great South American may have emerged.

Elina Svitolina and Lesia Tsurenko made tremendous runs in Paris, with the Ukranian beating Daria Kasatkina and compatriot Tsurenko beating former champions Barbora Krejcikova and Bianca Andeescu.

The future of Women's tennis is extremely exciting with Mirra Andreeva playing far beyond her age and reaching the third round in admirable fashion. Alina Korneeva also has an incredibly bright future, and perhaps are the stalwarts of the next generation of tennis.

With a new "Big Three" in question, Aryna Sabalenka will be disappointed not to have challenged Swiatek for the number one ranking, while Rybakina's unfortunate exit robbed us of a true contender in sublime touch.

While they were many great stories this season, dissapointment was ripe for Jessica Pegula and Caroline Garcia while six seeded players crashed out in Round One.

Roland Garros 2023 was again glory for Swiatek, and the storylines leading up to Wimbledon are the most exciting in years.
